Reception Questions

  • How much does it cost to have a wedding at Lied Lodge?

    Weddings vary in price based on the time of the year, day of the week, number of guests, and choice of ceremony and reception location. Each wedding ceremony and reception varies and we encourage you to to discuss specific costs.

  • Is there a difference in price between having a wedding on a Friday or Sunday versus a Saturday?

    Yes, there is a savings for choosing a Friday or Sunday versus a Saturday (see below for pricing).

    Rosenow Room:

    • May through December — Friday/Sunday $1,500 and Saturday $2,500
    • January through April — Friday/Saturday/Sunday $1,500

    Historic Morton Barns:

    • Mid-May through mid-October— Friday/Sunday $2,500 and Saturday $3,500
  • What is the maximum capacity for each location?

    Rosenow Room: 280 guests

    Historic Morton Barns: 300 guests (includes 150 guests inside the barn with additional seating for 150 guests in the courtyard; it's recommended for clients to rent an event tent)

  • What's included in the room rental price?

    Rosenow Room includes:

    • Lied Lodge wedding specialist to detail your event for Lied Lodge and Arbor Day Farm
    • Set-up and tear-down of reception room
    • Round tables and danko chairs to accommodate 8 people
    • Table service including wedding party color choice of table cloths and napkins (available from Lied Lodge Linen Line), china, and glassware
    • Cake table, guestbook table, gift table, DJ table, and head table
      • Cloth and skirted from our house linen collection
    • Wedding cake cutting service by Lied Lodge staff
    • Bartender services (number of bartenders to be determined by Lied Lodge)
    • Security guard on site for 5 hours (time to be determined by Lied Lodge)

    Historic Morton Barns includes:

    • Lied Lodge wedding specialist to detail your event for Lied Lodge and Arbor Day Farm
    • Set-up and tear-down of picnic table seating (seats 8 people per table) and ceremony seating (must be rented through a separate vendor)
    • Conditions may apply to glass centerpieces; see wedding specialist for details.
    • White table linens and napkins (choice of colored napkins)
    • Ivory China plates and silverware
    • Plastic and paper beverage cups for bar items and beverage station; glassware is prohibited
    • Cake table, guestbook table, gift table, DJ table, and head table
      • Cloth and skirted from our house linen collection
    • Wedding cake cutting service by Lied Lodge staff
    • Bartender services (number of bartenders to be determined by Lied Lodge)
    • Wedding arbor for ceremony
    • Fender sound system for wedding ceremony
    • Security guard will be on site for 5 hours (time to be determined by Lied Lodge)
  • Can I have an outdoor reception?

    Yes, the Historic Morton Barns located at Arbor Day Farm is just a short walk from the back door of Lied Lodge and offers a unique, natural setting for your reception.

  • How far in advance do I need to reserve the space?

    The timing of reserving space for your ceremony or reception varies. The most popular months for weddings are May through October. To reserve a particular date, we suggest calling as soon as possible with prime dates filling up 12 to 18 months in advance. It never hurts to call and ask about availability if your wedding date is sooner.

  • Can I bring my own food or caterer?

    All food and beverage, with the exception of the wedding cake and mints, must be supplied through Lied Lodge's culinary team.

  • Can I bring in my own wine or champagne for the reception?

    Bringing in your own specialty wine or champagne is allowed. There is a corkage fee for each bottle opened.

  • Can we bring our own alcohol besides wine?

    All other alcohol and beer must be purchased through Lied Lodge.

  • When can I decorate the room?

    The time that you will be able to decorate your room will be determined approximately 14 days prior to your wedding. Normally, the standard time for a late afternoon or evening wedding is 2 p.m.

Ceremony Questions

  • Can I have an outdoor wedding ceremony?

    Lied Lodge and Arbor Day Farm is a beautiful setting for outdoor wedding ceremonies, with several locations available. Our most popular include:

    • Hazelnut Lawn: north side of Lied Lodge overlooking the hazelnut field with the Morton Mansion in the background
    • East Lawn: the east end of Lied Lodge — perfect for summer weddings as it is shaded
    • Historic Morton Barns: a truly unique and charming white barn
    • Arbor Lodge State Historical Park's Heart-Shaped Lawn or Rose Garden
  • Can I have just my ceremony there but not my reception?

    Yes, please call us for availability. The two options for ceremony only locations include Arbor Lodge State Historical Park's Heart-Shaped Lawn and Rose Garden.

  • What happens if it rains and I have an outdoor ceremony planned?

    If it rains the day of your wedding, the ceremony can be held in your reception room. If you have reserved the Historic Morton Barns, the event will go on as planned, as it features vinyl walls/flaps that can be rolled down in rainy weather. Also, the East Barn can then be utilized for the ceremony location.

Lodging Questions

  • Does Lied Lodge have a bridal suite?

    Lied Lodge has various options for a bridal suite. The Junior Suite features a king-sized bed, oversized bathroom with walk-in shower, kitchenette, sofa with chaise and ottoman, and a generous-sized table and chairs. The Hospitality Suite features a bathroom, kitchenette, sofa, and a generous-sized table and chairs. The Boardroom features a conference room with a generous-sized table and chairs with a separate room complete with a bathroom, kitchenette, and seating area.

  • What do the guest rooms cost? Can I book my reception there without renting guest rooms?

    To reserve a wedding at Lied Lodge, a minimum of 30 guest room nights must be reserved throughout your stay. The cost of rooms varies based on the time of the year. Please call our wedding specialist for specific pricing.

Miscellaneous Questions

  • Can I put welcome gifts in the guest rooms?

    Gifts may be handed to your guests as they check in to their guest rooms at the front desk or delivered to their individual guest rooms. A small handling fee will apply to each gift bag.

  • Can I have my rehearsal dinner at Lied Lodge?

    Yes, Lied Lodge offers a variety of venues and menus to fit your tastes, from a formal dinner to a casual grill out. We also have rooms available for a brunch the following morning or gift opening.

  • How far in advance do I need to start planning the details?

    There are many details involved with your special day. A majority of brides begin making final decisions 9 months prior to the wedding. All details with the wedding specialist for Lied Lodge should be completed 45-60 days prior to the wedding date. The only item that will be undetermined at that time should be your final guest count as you will be waiting on RSVPs.

  • I would like to set up an appointment with the wedding specialist. When can I meet with her and how much time should I allow for the meeting?

    On your initial visit, please allow 1 hour to meet with the wedding specialist. The days and dates that she is available may vary by week; however, Tuesdays through Fridays are the best days for appointments. Saturdays tend to be the busiest days due to weddings taking place. The length of additional planning appointments will be determined by the detail and style of your wedding.   • Can I order a wedding cake from Lied Lodge?

    Yes, Lied Lodge's pastry chef can make a custom cake. For additional information, please contact our wedding specialist.
