Weekends this fall, the entire family will enjoy a mash-up of Arbor Day Farm's most beloved fall season activities: hayrack rides, cider, s'mores and storytelling!

On Fridays and Saturdays nights, Sept. 30 thru Nov. 12, climb aboard a hayrack at the Lied Lodge lobby, where your journey begins at 7:00pm sharp. Travel to Arbor Day Farm's Morton Oak tree, where you'll sip hot apple cider, make s'mores, and enjoy tales from a storyteller, then return to Lied Lodge by approximately 8:45pm.

Tickets are $15.00+ tax for adults; $10+ tax for children, age 3-12. Seating is limited on the hayrack, and this activity often sells out. To reserve your seat, please call Lied Lodge at 800-546-5433.

When’s the last time you climbed a tree? Maybe when you were 10? Maybe never?

Tree Climbing Weekend at Arbor Day Farm is your opportunity to harness up and shimmy your way skyward in an old oak savanna. There’s even smaller-scale climbing options for the younger set.

October 8 & 9, is Mountain Man Rendezvous, from 11am-4pm. Enjoy seed beadwork, weaving, leather sewing, Dutch oven cooking, fabric dyes and printing, tomahawk throwing, pottery, dulcimer music, and cider pressing.

At Historic Barns at Arbor Day Farm

Nothing says fall quite like Oktoberfest, and you’re invited to share in the fun at Arbor Day Farm’s Historic Barns on Sunday, October 9, from 1:00-5:00pm.

Enjoy Chef Thomas’ authentic German foods along with local, domestic and international beers. Dance to polka music from the Sheelytown 4. Play horseshoes and other yard games and get in the fall season spirit.

We’re celebrating no-scare Halloween fun at the Tree Adventure and Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, and you’re invited!

This special pumpkin party is rain or shine, 9am to 5pm, and included with regular admission. All ages welcome to come in costume and enjoy:

• Hayrack rides to the pumpkin patch
• Face painting at the treehouse
• Pumpkin decorating with help from Tree Adventure staff
• Make-and-take Halloween crafts
• Halloween Hunt along the trails - use “spooky clues” to find fun items in the forest

Back by popular demand — it’s the Holiday Trolley Tour of Lights in Nebraska City.

Weekends this December, climb aboard the Arbor Day Farm trolley for a one-hour tour of Historic Nebraska City and the best show of Christmas lights.

During the ride, you’ll enjoy a reading of the classic Christmas book, The Polar Express.
The trolley departs the Lied Lodge lobby at 6:00pm sharp and returns approximately one hour later.

Price is $15.00 + tax for adults; $10 + tax for children age 3-12. Under three’s ride for free.

Arbor Lodge is the original estate of J. Sterling Morton -- the founder of Arbor Day, the tree planter's holiday. What started as a four-room home evolved into the 52-room mansion that still stands today. The home is filled with priceless artifacts of the Morton Family's life and legacy; you will be impressed.

Commemorate your event or a special occasion by planting your own tree at Arbor Day Farm. The ceremony includes a tree (ranging 4-feet to 7-feet tall) -- choose from 67 different species -- with a small plaque describing the tree and the person or event being honored. Shovels and mulch provided. The arborist team at Arbor Day Farm will provide ongoing care for your living monument. Available April through October.
