Find the Sculptures: The Enchanted Arboretum

Don’t miss your chance to see 72 tree-themed sculptures from Nebraska City’s new public art project, called “The Enchanted Arboretum,” at locations all around town this summer.

Local school students and regional artists alike created the sculptures, ranging from four-feet to six-feet tall, which will be on display in the Nebraska City community until being auctioned for charity in September.

Four tree sculptures are on display at various places at Arbor Day Farm; view the UPDATED map of all the sculptures placed around Nebraska City, or pick up your map at the Tree Adventure or the Lied Lodge front desk.

Stamp your Travel Nebraska Passport

Stamp your Travel Nebraska Passport

At Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure

Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure is one of 80 attractions featured in the 2013 Nebraska Passport, a program that encourages travelers to explore Nebraska. Participants collect stamps from participating attractions and then redeem their passports for prizes.

Visitors to the Tree Adventure can have their passports stamped from May 1 through September 30, 2013, as part of the "Hit the Hot Spots" tour.

For each completed tour, participants receive a variety of prizes and are eligible for a grand-prize drawing of an Apple iPad Mini, valued at $600, in October 2013.

The passport program was created by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development’s Travel and Tourism Division, and complete contest details and list of all the stops on the 2013 Nebraska Passport can be found online at NebraskaPassport.com.

Sunset & S'mores

Sunset & S'mores

At Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure

You'll enjoy this summer evening treat at the Tree Adventure! Climb aboard for a guided, one-hour Sunset Discovery Ride as you journey through the orchards and vineyards at Arbor Day Farm. Following the ride, gather 'round for a twilight bonfire complete with make-your-own s'mores.

This activity is first offered on Saturday, June 22, with the Discovery Ride departing at 8:00 pm (see additional dates listed below). Cost is $30 per adult, $25 per child (age 3-12) and includes your Tree Adventure admission, your ticket for the Discovery Ride, the bonfire, make-your-own s'mores, and bottled water.

Reservations are required for the Sunset & S'mores activity; please call the Tree Adventure at (402) 873-8717 to reserve your seat. This activity should last approximately two hours.

Just across the street from Lied Lodge, Steinhart Park is the hub of Nebraska City's Independence Day festivities this year -- taking place on Saturday, June 29, 2013.

Enjoy live music, games for children, an ice cream social, a band concert, and a fireworks show beginning at approximately 9:30pm. Free admission. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the day in the park.

*If case of inclement weather, alternate date for fireworks display is Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Spend some time with an Arbor Day Farm nature interpreter who will dispel bat myths from fact, discuss bat habitat, the benefits they provide in the natural world, and lead children in creating a make-and-take bat craft.

This all-ages activity takes place in the Discovery Ride Depot on Saturday & Sunday, July 13 and 14, from 11am to 3pm; included with regular Tree Adventure admission.

One weekend only: Bring your four-legged friend to the Tree Adventure and support the Nebraska City community.

Exclusively on July 13 and 14, 2013, all leashed dogs are welcome at Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure. Your pup will love hiking the trails, picking up the scents in the forest, and enjoying nature alongside you.

A free-will donation dog wash will be available from 11:00am-4:00pm both days, with proceeds going to the scholarship fund through the Nebraska City Community Development Committee. Take home a clean dog for a great cause.

Complimentary dog treats and water provided. Woof!

Our orchard manager is predicting a very good peach crop for this summer, being ready for harvest approximately the third week of July.

You can pick your own peaches in the orchard, or purchase them pre-picked in the Apple House Market (open daily). Either way, don't miss this short season of fresh peaches!

The 2013 Nature Explore/Outdoor Classroom Project Leadership Institute will be held July 21-24, 2013, at Lied Lodge & Conference Center at Arbor Day Farm, Nebraska City, NE.

This comprehensive, three-day institute offers educators in-depth, research-based workshops. Designers will receive comprehensive information on all facets of designing and constructing research-based natural outdoor classrooms.

Enjoy times to explore nature and network with other participants during social gatherings in the evening, such as wine tasting and musical performances.

You'll take the Discovery Ride to our Preservation Orchard, home to more than 60 unusual apple varieties. Stroll through the historic orchard to smell the blossoms in April, or -- in season -- pick an heirloom variety and taste apple goodness no longer available in grocery stores. A Nature Interpreter enhances your experience with information about our living genetic repository for future food sources in changing climates. Available April through October.

Commemorate your event or a special occasion by planting your own tree at Arbor Day Farm. The ceremony includes a tree (ranging 4-feet to 7-feet tall) -- choose from 67 different species -- with a small plaque describing the tree and the person or event being honored. Shovels and mulch provided. The arborist team at Arbor Day Farm will provide ongoing care for your living monument. Available April through November.
