Summertime fun is closer than you imagined with the new Discover Summer Package that includes: the Tree Adventure, Discovery Ride, tree seedling, lunch in the Timber Dining Room, and apple pie or wine tasting at the Apple House. Monday through Saturday - $32. Sunday - $37. Children 3 to 13 - $19. Children 2 and under - free. Passes may be purchased at the Tree Adventure or Lied Lodge front desk. Horse-Drawn Carriage RidesFriday & Saturday Nights
Watch the sunset from a horse-drawn carriage ride around Arbor Day Farm and historic Nebraska City. 30-minute rides are $45 plus tax, can accommodate up to four adults, and are available every Friday and Saturday evening at Lied Lodge. Reserve your ride at the Front Desk or call 402-873-8733.
Outdoor Barnside MoviesSaturday Nights All Summer Long, 9:00pm
From recent releases to family classics, kick back and enjoy a free Saturday night movie under the stars! Seating on lawn with blankets available, or bring your own lawn chair. Free admission. Check with the Front Desk for movie location; subject to change in case of inclement weather.
Artisan WoodsJune through October 2009
Artisan Woods, an outdoor showcase of nine nature-inspired structures and art, comes to Arbor Day Farm June 21-October 31, 2009. Regional artisans have created walk-through tunnels, interactive sculptures, and a giant-sized birds nests and other exhibits that display the strength, beauty and wonder of trees. Find a map, artist bios, and a photo essay of an artist at work on the Artisan Woods page. On exhibit June 21-October 31; included with regular Tree Adventure admission.
Adventure Hike: CreekingJuly 18, 11:00am
This is summer fun! With a true sense of adventure, follow as your Tour Guide leads a one-hour trek into the backwoods and along South Table Creek. Relax in a quiet clearing or splash in the water. This is a moderate hike, so rugged footwear that can get wet is recommended; leave your electronics behind. Includes a bottle of water. $5 per person, plus regular admission to the Tree Adventure. Nature PhotographyJuly 11 and July 25, 11:00am
Discover inspirational images and receive tips from professional photographer Tammy Partsch during this one-hour backwoods hike. Wine Under the PinesAugust 1, 2009
The second annual celebration of wine, craft beer, cuisine, music and fun in Southeast Nebraska. Featuring Nebraska wineries, vineyards and micro-breweries, such as Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard, Nebraska Brewing Company, Schilling Bridge, Whiskey Run Creek, and Deer Springs Winery. Festivities include live music, local BBQ, vineyard tours, grape stomping and so much more. More information coming soon!
Summer Art CampJuly 13-17, 2009
Hands-on fun for kids starts at Arbor Day Farm's Summer Art Camp! Kids aged 1st grade through 6th grade will have fun hiking, collecting natural items in the forest, and creating original works of art with Artist in Residence Barbara Schroeder. $40 per student and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Culinary Trails at Arbor Day FarmSaturday, July 18, 9am - 6pm
Follow the culinary trail to Arbor Day Farm! Enjoy day-long festivities at the Tree Adventure and at the Apple House Market, including an abundance of rich flavors (tomatoes, watermelon, sweet corn) and cooking demonstrations, live music, wine tasting and summer fun for all ages.
